Writing LGBTQ Characters for Screen Weekend

Description


It is now all about writing inclusive series and films. This course is both theoretical and practical, with a short history of LGBTQIA+ characters on screen and an introduction into writing characters in this area.

The idea is to get a comprehensive vision of LGBTQIA+ on screen, how to improve their visibility, how to make them relatable and powerful. The theoretical aspect will be linked to writing exercises, developing LGBTQIA+ characters and creating interesting dynamics and storylines.

Outcomes
An in-depth knowledge of the history of LGBTQIA+ characters on screen, how to create interesting characters and some good writing tips.

Entry requirements

Students need to have an interest in the LGBTQIA+ culture as well as in writing, but they don't need any specific skills.

Tutor Description


Graduate from MA Dramatic Writing at Central Saint Martins, Albane is now a screenwriter and a novelist. Her first queer novel will be out in September 2019, and she is also working on series for Disney. She has created Paris' first pop-up LGBTQIA library.
