Still Life Oil Painting
Designed for those who wish to improve on existing painting skills and welcoming newcomers to the practice, this course will develop your ability to describe texture, tone, form and colour using the medium of oil paint.
You will be encouraged to produce a series of vibrant paintings which strike a balance between spontaneity and fine detail, experimenting with various compositions, lighting conditions and perspectives.
Focusing on traditional still life elements such as flowers, fruit and fabric, our subject matter will broaden to incorporate more familiar items which have become icons of contemporary modern life.
• How to apply colour, texture and layers to still life oil painting
• Practical work is supported by reference to the work of experienced painters, which can be used as a source of inspiration
The course is suitable for students of all levels, including those with some previous experience. Numbers are kept to a maximum of 16 (sometimes fewer), which gives time for the tutor to go round and give one-to-one advice according to individual needs.
By examining a variety of still life set-ups and themes, we aim to advance your knowledge of materials, techniques and processes in order to strengthen your future painting practice.
