Who should attend this course?

Anyone aged 7 to 10 who is interested in art and design.

We have two great sessions: Up My Street led by Antonia Harrowing on the 23rd of February and Mindfulness and Colour led by Sarah Manning on the 4th of March.

Up My Street (February 23 2021)

In this session, you will be illustrating the street or area where you live. Using collage to create a personal response you will need to think about where you live and what makes it different from other places. We will be inspired by the artists who have approached this before us including Christian Robinson, Lisa Congdon, Roger Duvoisin and Louise Lockhart and others.

Outcomes

  • Learn to develop personal ideas
  • Produce creative work, learning to work in collage
  • Evaluate and analyse creative works

Mindfulness and Colour (March 4 2021)

In this session, we will discover the importance of colour and how we can use colour to express our feelings and thoughts. We will learn about the colour wheel theory and the primary, secondary and tertiary colours. We will look at how we identify and mix complementary colours and use these to create our own artwork. This will be inspired by discussing which colours we associate with which emotions and how using these can help us to show what we feel.

Outcomes

  • Learn about the colour wheel and basic colour theory.
  • How to identify and create, primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
  • Learn how these colours relate to each other.
  • How feeling and emotion can be expressed through colour.
