Chelsea Drawing and Painting Short Course

Course description

Join Chelsea Drawing and Painting and develop skills in colour theory, composition and observational drawing. You will also be encouraged to experiment with a range of media, including painting, drawing and collage.

As you progress over the weeks or days, youll work on your own compositions using techniques and skills gained throughout the course creating your own unique visual language.

Basic materials are provided, but you will also benefit from building your own working kit to bring to the class every week.

A sketchbook drawing session in a gallery will be included. Details will be provided by your tutor once you start the course. The course will culminate in a group exhibition in your classroom, of the coursework made, with the chance to invite your friends and family.


Course outcomes

By the end of the course you'll have gained in confidence and created a body of work as a result of exploring different painting and drawing approaches and you will have developed your creative and reflective artistic practice. You will leave with a body of work that can used to put towards a portfolio for future study.

Ideal for anyone looking to gain a greater understanding of art as well as those wanting to build their confidence in drawing and painting. It would especially suit you if you're keen to build experience or you're thinking of applying for further study in art and design.

  • As long as you attend a minimum of 80% of your classes, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance.
  • We always recommend you attend all of the classes so that you get the most out of the experience!
  • Certificates are great to compliment your cv.

Materials

Please bring the following materials with you on the first day:

  • A selection of B grade drawing pencils
  • A selection of synthetic bristle paint brushes
  • Charcoal
  • Oil pastels
  • Pencil sharpener
  • One household paint brush (2-3")
  • One A4 drawing pad / sketchbook
  • Basic colours of acrylic paints (black, white, red, blue, yellow plus burnt sienna)
  • Erasers (plastic rubber)
  • One bottle of black Quink (writing ink)
  • Cloths for drying brushes
  • One jam jar for water
  • One roll of masking tape

Please note - Students should make arrangements to take their work home at the end of the course. Any work that is left in the studio, during or after the course, is at a student’s own risk. In such circumstances students should ensure that work is clearly labelled with their name, course title and dates. Work will be kept for no longer than one month after the end of the course. Please note that we are unable to arrange for the delivery of your work, but would be very happy to prepare this ready for collection should you wish to arrange for a courier.
