Fine Art Studio
Join the Fine Art Studio where your tutor will place the emphasis on how to be professional as an artist. The course will provide you with a safe and inspiring environment to establish and advance your own artistic practice.
On this course, you will be provided with an insight and overview of the professional aspects of being an artist. You will receive essential information that will help you to evaluate and position yourself in the art market. You will be supported to work on self-initiated projects, at your own pace, as you focus on acquiring a broader understanding of your own body of work.
Your tutor will be available to guide you individually, throughout the course. Through one-to-one and group tutorials you will have the opportunity to confront yourself with your work, present it to others and get feedback.
You will be encouraged to form a network and artistic community with your fellow students, which is aimed to support you, after the course is finished.
Please note this is not a skills based course – students will not receive technical tuition in their artistic medium.
The course will offer short talks on the following subjects:
- Essential non artistic skills
- Being an artist is a business
- Intellectual property rights
- Getting you work out there
- How to put on a show
- Galleries, alternative presentation platforms
- Funding, art prizes, scholarships
By the end of the course you will have built up self-confidence, increased self-motivation and expanded understanding of your own artistic body of work. You will have begun to establish and identify an independent studio practice and vision for the future direction of your work. You will have established a new support network of fellow artists that lasts beyond the course.
