Exploration in Print for 11 to 15 Year Olds Online Short Course

Course description

In this course we will spend two sessions considering the ways print is used in different environments. We will also be considering a range of artists and designers and the way they use print in their own work. We will be looking specifically at the British-Nigerian designer Yinka Ilori and creating our own block prints at home, inspired by his striking designs that have been applied to community spaces and Insta-perfect playgrounds.

Who should attend

Anyone aged 11 to 15 who is interested in art and design.

  • The creation of your own print design and applying it to a specific context

All our online short courses include:

  • Live online lessons, all of?our classes are live, you won't find any recordings here
  • Clear, explanations and easy to understand lessons.
  • Live demonstrations, you can see exactly how things should be done
  • Live interaction with your classmates from around the world, our students come from far and wide
  • Ask questions of your tutor, using your microphone and camera, or if you're not feeling brave, in the chat box
  • Receive feedback on your work

How to book:

  • Thick cardboard
  • Scalpel or Scissors
  • Cutting Mat/old magazine if using a scalpel
  • Craft/acrylic paint
  • Gluestick
  • Brushes (to apply paint)
  • Paper to print on
  • Tissue Paper/tracing paper to print onto (optional)
  • Bubble Wrap
  • String
  • Foil
  • Damp cloth
  • Newspaper/something to cover workspace

Session 2:

  • Pencil/Pen
  • Pencil crayons/Oil pastels/wax crayons
  • Scissors
  • Gluestick
  • Paper to stick collages on
  • Last week's printed sheets
  • Coloured paper

Online short course materials

To take part in the Online sessions you will need:

  • An up-to-date web browser (we recommend Chrome)
  • Microphone and headphones (a headset with a microphone function is recommended. The built-in microphone in your device would also be fine)
  • Webcam

Meet the Tutor:

This online class for 11 to 15 year olds explores various types of print making. Students will be make their own printmaking blocks at home, inspired by successful print makers in the art world.
