Art and Design for 13 to 16 Year Olds Short Course

Course description

Course description

Join Art and Design for 13 to 16 Year Olds and work with a practicing artist to explore processes of making artwork and developing ideas in a similar working method to those used at art college.

We will look at modern and contemporary artists work, with a focus on learning about artistic practice and developing ideas. You will experiment directly with materials - outside of a sketchbook. Please make sure you bring a camera or camera phone to document this, so you can add images to your sketchbook when you get home.

You will create work in different sizes and formats and experiment with a range of media. In the second half of the week, youll develop your own project, with your tutor, and on the final day present and celebrate your work within the group.

Course outcomes

  • Youll have made new work individually and in groups and have explored some contemporary art techniques and processes.
  • The planning skills youll have developed in making and exhibiting the work can be transferred to a portfolio and in writing about your work for future studies.
  • The artists you will have explored can feed into your sketchbook and research.
