Art and Design for 11 to 13 Year Olds Short Course

Course description

Join Art and Design for 11 to 13 Year Olds and work with a practicing artist to explore the process of making artwork and developing ideas with similar working methods to those we use at art college.

Each day we will build on experiments that relate to the previous session to create new work in drawing, painting, sculpture, print making and collage. Students will work at different scales, take creative risks and experiment. The course encourages students who like to think through making and doing and are eager to learn how to solve problems practically and creatively.

We will draw inspiration by looking at modern and contemporary artists’ work with a focus on learning about artistic practice and developing ideas.

Course outcomes

  • Create a personal portfolio of work.
  • Experiment with a range of materials in 2D & 3D.
  • Develop ideas by responding to a theme.
  • Work collaboratively with peers through discussion and making.
