This practical Lingerie course will instruct you in the processes of constructing several styles of lingerie: a French knicker, a chemise, and a bustier. The tutor, a Lingerie industry expert, will guide you in making each garment, from start to finish. You will finish the course with a completed garment and pattern for each style of lingerie. All garments will be made in size 12.
This course includes:
Discussion of suitable lingerie fabrics and fabric compositions
Trimmings and components
Demonstration of Lockstitch, zigzag, bartack, rolled hem and overlock machines
Bias cutting and straight grain
Seam allowances for lingerie, & pattern markings
This course does not include pattern cutting or grading to other sizes.
Intermediate to advanced. You should be a regular sewer and have good pattern cutting skills. This course is not suitable for beginners.
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older.

Linda Wing is a graduate of LCF and has worked for many years as a lingerie, nightwear and swimwear designer and pattern cutter, for manufacturers and retailers. She has also run her own company as a bespoke wedding gown designer/maker. She currently passes on her industry knowledge to the next generation of lingerie designers working as a lecturer and specialist technician on the BA (Hons) Fashion Contour degree alongside various lingerie and swimwear design and making short courses.
In order to fully participate in the practical exercises please bring the following materials/equipment to the first class:
- 28mm blade Rotary cutter with retractable blade (Olfa or Fiscars) or fabric shears
- Paper shears
- Air-erasable fabric marker pen
- Fine pins
- Tape measure - metric
- Stitch un-picker.
- Notepad & pen
