Patternmaking Experimental And Explorative Approaches Part 2 Short Course

Course description

Central Saint Martins is renowned for its innovative and open-minded approach to the creative process. This short intensive course builds on Experimental And Explorative Approaches Part 1, and explores some unconventional and inventive approaches to patternmaking and shape creation.

You will be encouraged to think 'outside the box' and experiment with abstract and geometric shapes in both 2D and 3D, and to observe how they relate to the body as garments.

The course intends to lead you on a journey of discovery at the end of which, it is hoped, you will rethink your approach to design and patternmaking. Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practise a series of calico modelling skills, leading on to the creation of your own 'geometrically draped' toile.
