Lingerie and Swimwear Design
This course covers the design processes of lingerie and swimwear enabling you to design your own capsule collection. You will also gain valuable insights into the lingerie and swimwear industry, allowing you to develop a suitable retail concept.
You’ll focus on research development, customer profiling, establishing a market level, concept development and exploring design details/components.
This course also includes trend, fabric and colour palette development to aid your collection, with drawing tips and range planning. You will be working both independently and in groups, with regular group feedback.
Please note that this is a design based course and does not include any garment construction work or pattern cutting.

Nichole de Carle graduated from the Contour Design Course at De Montfort University in England with a First Class Honors degree. Nichole mastered rare skills in body contour and fit across lingerie, swimwear and corsetry. Such expertise later secured her positions at fashion power-houses Alexander McQueen and Donna Karen New York, then later at Sydney based lingerie specialists, Pleasure State. Nichole’s time with McQueen inspired her to pursue couture design within the intimates sector, founding her eponymous label, Nichole de Carle London in 2010. Originally a bespoke service, she quickly built up an impressive client list of A-list performers and international High Net Worth Individuals. Nichole’s specialism is in the technical creation of innovative, fashion-forward intimates for the modern power-woman. In 2012 Nichole set up a new business in parallel to building her brand, called 'London Contour Experts'. This company is based in London and specialises in product development and sampling, with expertise in creating high quality lingerie, activewear and swimwear for other brands and designers on a global scale.
Amelia Firth-Waugh is graduate of BA Fashion Contour and has worked with numerous companies in both design and technical based roles. Having been awarded the Fashion Contour Ambassador Prize, she went on to work for cult lingerie and lifestyle brand Reckless Wolf. Interested particularly in the luxury sector, with experience in couture embellishment and hand finishing techniques. Accolades include having garments walk at NYFW 2015 for Chromat and features in numerous prestigious publications. Amelia is currently a Specialist Contour Technician at LCF, as well as Lingerie and Technical Designer and for independent luxury brand E.L.F Zhou London.
In order to fully participate in the practical exercises please bring the following materials/equipment to the first class:
- A4 layout 45gsm paper pad
- Technical/mechanical pencil
- Fine black pens
- Materials for colour work in your preferred medium (e.g. coloured pencils, water soluble coloured pencils, felt tip pens etc)
- Notepad and pen for note taking
- Laptop (optional)
