Fashion Design And Marketing
Understanding the market for fashion is an essential foundation stone for all those who are interested in carving out a successful career in the fashion design industry. This course offers an introduction to the subject. By the end of the course you will have a clearer idea of who your customers will be, and where your collections or products should be on sale.
- We will explore the basic steps from designing to selling a collection including press and PR, and how to get that all-important media attention.
- You will investigate what people do that makes them successful, whilst collecting information on colour, fabric, price, design and retail outlet.
- You will develop a promotional plan for your own collection or an existing brand, which will be presented on the last day of the course.
Level: This is a beginners course, suitable for people who are new to fashion marketing.
Entry requirements: None, but it might help if you have some experience of fashion design or an idea of a brand / collection that you want to work with so that you can apply what you learn to something that is directly relevant to you. However, this is not essential.

Her clients have included brands and retailers from high street to premium, such as ASOS.com, Lipsy, The Limited Inc. (own Victoria's Secret), Emmanuel Ungaro and Oscar de la Renta. With a profound knowledge of Retail Marketing and Brand Management, Erica has been responsible for identifying commercial opportunities, developing and implementing sales and marketing communication strategies, organising launch events, media liaison and trade show participation. Currently working as a Marketing Consultant, her current client portfolio includes revolutionary, Mary Portas' Living & Giving Shop for Save the Children
Mr. Bryan (PG Cert, AFHEA) has over 20 years experience in the Fashion industry as a Fashion Designer showcasing luxurious collections globally at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and also as a Freelance Public Relations Consultant in Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle, as well as a stint in Corporate PR.
Arming his students with the tools needed to succeed in the fashion industry, Mr. Bryan's pedagogical approach is heavily informed by his personal experiences and the real-life case studies of existing creative individuals and businesses.
Lynnette Murphy has had a successful Design Consultancy and worked in Fashion Forecasting for many years. In the past Lynnette has been a consultant and advisor to large fashion companies like Debenhams, BHS and Next. She has also worked internationally in Hong Kong for G2000 and India for Levis Strauss. She has worked as a designer, illustrator and product developer. She runs two very popular short courses at Central Saint Martins where Lynnette has been teaching for the last 8 years.
