Course description

Graphic Design for 11 - 13 year olds will explore the world of visual communication as you unravel the possibilities of graphic design. You'll leave with a body of design work and new-found skills that can be put towards building a design portfolio.

You will experience a week of studio based learning in an incredible university environment dedicated to Art & Design.Through a series of fun and engaging workshops, you will experiment with a range of hands-on materials and processes. Students will explore & experiment with a set of "hands on" graphic exercises utilising a variety of materials to produce 2D & 3D works. The exercises are fun and students will have a choice from a selection of projects to inspire them. You will develop your drawing, push your printmaking, tinker with your typography and focus on your photography. With this array of materials, you will let your imagination run free and find new ways of expressing and communicating your ideas. We'll encourage you to develop your ideas through brainstorming and visual research, with an off-site visit to feed your inspiration.

With tutor help, students will see how handmade masterpieces can enter the digital world as we produce a 'fanzine' showcasing some of the best work created by young artists and designers during the week.
