Graphic Design: Essential Building Blocks
This course will introduce you to graphic design through the development of professional processes and skills. Taught through tutor presentations and hands on studio time, you will learn the building blocks of design so that you can create work you can be proud of.
You will engage with projects and learn the subtleties of design in order to expand your creativity and challenge the often disjointed nature of mainstream design.
As part of the course you will be asked to come up with hypothetical design proposals for three major brands- redesigning their advertisements, typography and aesthetics.

- Understand and effectively use the elements of design
- Convey your enthusiasm, creativity, intellect, and practical skillsthrough an engaging portfolio of design work
- Understand the importance of wit, creativity, and elegance in design
For the majority of the course the work will be practical and hands on but a small percentage will be computer based.

Nikos Georgópoulos is an award-winning graphic designer and art director based in London. Described by London College of Fashion’s Creative Director as ‘sensitive, considered and essentially poetic’, his practice is best known for designing ideas driven visual identities, websites and communications for the elds of fashion, culture and architecture. He has studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication at Vakalo (BAHons, MA) in Athens, and at Camberwell College of Arts (MA) in London, where he conducted practice-based research exploring the relation between Identity and Archives. Nikos is a member of the Art Directors Club in New York and since 2018 he is an Associate Lecturer of BA(Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion at London College of Fashion.
