Introduction To Metalwork And Welding
This course is an introduction to metalwork and welding in which you will learn many of the practical skills and techniques associated with the fabrication of steel sculpture. The aim of this 5 day course is to inspire and equip you with the skills to make and finish your own project which you can take home.
You will be taught how to confidently weld and use all of the machinery commonly found in well-equipped metal workshops.
Demonstrations will be given of how to create different surface textures and finishes, how to bend and make shapes from metal alongside professional fabrication techniques for construction of realised ideas.
Full health and safety instructions will be given for a wide range of equipment including:
- hand tools
- plasma cutters
- pillar drills
Who should take this course?
Students interested in building on making skills, people who have an avid interest in metalworking and the processes of doing so.
Entry requirements: For safety reasons, you must be fluent in English so that you can fully understand health and safety requirements.
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
After graduating with a BA in Fine Art Leila has worked as a freelance metalworker for Creative Metalwork LTD- fabricating items for clients such as Claridges, Mulberry, Fred Perry, ACE Hotels and many others. She has exhibited in both London and Berlin and through collaboration with t-shirt brand Terrible Movement started up her own jewellery range. She currently works as a technician at Central Saint Martins.
