Furniture Design - Intermediate - Materials, Design Development and Model Making
If you've already done an introductory furniture design course and want to focus on improving your practical three dimensional work, or simply wish to get your hands dirty and develop your model making skills, this intermediate short course is the one for you.
We will start in the studio but most of the course will take place in the workshop. You will be supervised and guided by expert workshop technicians and develop your own 3D furniture designs by experimenting with a range of materials and making techniques.
You will practice how to work with card, board, wire, rod, mesh, foam, wood, metal and plastics. It is an opportunity for you to explore and develop your ideas, from initial experiments and 1:1 mock ups to tests and scaled models.
On completion of this course you can progress to the following more advanced programmes, all run by the same tutor, Rock Galpin.
Combined with our other Furniture Design Intermediate short courses, this course will give you a solid foundation for applying to a degree in product design.
Basic knowledge and skills in furniture design are required.
You should have completed either our Furniture Design or our Furniture Design for Beginners course before attempting an intermediate level.
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
