Important information about studying on campus

Short courses: Health and safety

In recognising the vital role we all play in keeping each other safe we ask that all staff and students familiarise themselves with Our Covid-19 Community Pledge.

All students should ensure they read the Covid-19 Onsite Induction [PPT 4.7MB] before starting their course.

Maintaining clean and safe learning environments

Additional measures have been put in place to ensure classrooms and communal spaces are safe for everyone to use. These include:

  • Additional cleaning in classrooms and communal areas (including touch points)
  • Signage and one-way systems
  • Maximum persons limit in lifts
  • Hand-sanitiser stations throughout

Personal responsibility

At UAL we will be maintaining social distancing of 1m+ and the compulsory wearing of face coverings (unless you are medically exempt). This includes kids and teenagers.

Do not attend your short course if:

  • You or someone you are in close contact with has symptoms of COVID-19
  • You have tested positive with COVID-19 last 10 days
  • Someone you are in close contact with has tested positive for COVID-19

Please inform our Customer Service Team as soon as possible if you will not be attending due to illness

Face coverings

All staff, students and visitors must wear face coverings at all times when in UAL buildings. This includes kids and teenagers. Exemptions include, but aren't limited to:

  • Anyone who cannot put on, wear or remove a mask because of a physical or mental illness, impairment or disability
  • Where wearing a mask will cause severe distress
  • If you are required to lip-read
  • When eating or drinking

Keeping each other safe

It’s important that we all play our part to stop the spread of coronavirus and to keep each other safe. You can do this by sticking to a few simple rules when travelling around the University:

  • If you feel sick at any point with the symptoms of coronavirus, you must stay at home. If you’re in one of our buildings, you should leave immediately and contact the National Health Service (NHS) on 111
  • When on site use the hand sanitising gel provided
  • You should wash your hands frequently with soap and water, for a minimum of 20 seconds each time
  • We’ve worked out just how many students can be on site at one time, so you must only attend your College when you have a class or when you have pre-arranged a visit
  • The wearing of face coverings is mandatory at UAL unless you have a valid reason not to
  • You should sanitise your workstation before and after use
  • Adhering to our community pledge at all times

Covid-19 Testing

We are encouraging staff and students Staff and students who have no symptoms of COVID-19 should have regular tests. You can make use of community testing in your area, collect tests from a nearby pharmacy or order rapid lateral flow tests online for home testing. We strongly advise you to get tested twice each week.
