“Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are basic human rights. They should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere – but they aren’t. That’s why we’re here”.

WaterAid have been in touch with Postgraduate Community in order to start thinking about some interesting events for our students in the Spring WATCH THIS SPACE…. In the meantime, they have some great volunteering opportunities for those interested in supporting their charitable causes.

World Toilet Day Bucket Collections

Southampton University student bucket collecting

WaterAid would love to get some UAL students involved in one or more of their London bucket collections on the 15th, 17th or 19th November. They’ve got collections spots at some of London’s biggest and busiest stations, and some very eye-catching toilet costumes for you to wear.

As part of our Winter Appeal, Untapped, all donations collected will be matched by the UK Government!

Just get in touch with for more information and to sign up!

They are recruiting volunteers for the following slots, and we can have up to four volunteers per slot:

WaterAid’s Out of Order exhibition Volunteers needed!

Female illustrators, artists and singers, from the UK and Sierra Leone have come together to create Out of Order – a multi-media exhibition exploring the impact a lack of decent, private toilets has on 1 in 3 women across the globe.

Organised by WaterAid and held at London’s Old Truman Brewery (Shoreditch), it will be open 11am – 7pm Thursday 16 November, culminating on World Toilet Day on Sunday 19 November.

Volunteers will be needed for 4-5 hours in the morning or afternoon to help with invigilating, managing the merchandise stall and taking donations – a WaterAid member of staff will also be there.  Volunteers will be able to claim travel expenses to/from the gallery for travel within London (zones 1-6).

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact

For up-to-date information about the exhibition please join the Out of Order Facebook event and share with your contacts!
