PhD Conversations

detail of a group of students talking

PhD Conversations brings together research experiences and writing from across the University. This platform shares ongoing research with new audiences and makes PhD student practices accessible online. We connect students with similar topics and aspirations to foster collaboration and support thriving research communities.

We support all UAL MPhil/PhD students in finding or building their own community of research peers at UAL, whether this is within specific research centres or beyond the limits set by these structures.

Support can take the form of funding, assistance in organising and promoting events or interest groups, or simply talking about your ideas and connecting you to potential collaborators. Our aim is to help all students at UAL benefit from the network that comes from studying in such a large and active university.

Our activities respond to 4 main aims:

  • Connect students around common research topics
  • Highlight practice as part of the research conversation
  • Use research centres as hubs for PhD involvement in the research community

As a PhD or MPhil student, Post-Grad Community is here to help you:

  • find and reach out to your audience through participating in, attending or leading events (within or beyond UAL)
  • organise research-related or social events (booking rooms and advertising, for instance)
  • get the most from your time at UAL by connecting you to the research community.
