Supporting evidence

As part of your online application for a UAL International Postgraduate £50,000 Scholarship and Accommodation Award you'll be asked to upload files that evidence how you meet the eligibility criteria.

We recommend that you have these files ready before starting your application.

You'll need to provide:

  1. Evidence that you are ordinarily resident in one of the low income economy countries detailed in our list of qualifying countries. Please note that:
    1. The term ‘ordinarily resident’ means where you usually live for most of your time in the 3 years before your course is due to start
    2. As evidence of your residency status, please provide proof of your address or addresses from the last 3 years to evidence the country you have been ordinarily resident e.g.
      1. Utility bills
      2. Official documents
      3. Medical certificates
      4. School certificates
    3. Your documents must evidence 3 years residency which means you may need to upload more than 1 document – at least 1 document for each year
    4. All evidence must be in your name and cannot be in your partner, parents or relatives names
    5. Bank statements, driving license and passports are not evidence of residency.

Or

Evidence that you are an asylum seeker in the UK at the point you made your UAL International Postgraduate Scholarship application. This must be a letter or document from the Home Office.

2. Evidence of your annual household income of £50,000 or less (or the equivalent exchange value in a qualifying country’s currency) at the point of scholarship application. Visit Oanda Trade Currency Exchange for an up-to-date currency conversion.

a. If you are under 25 years old and supported by your parent(s)/guardian, please provide:

  • Copies of your parent/guardian and their partner’s annual tax statements OR
  • Copies of your parent/guardian and their partner’s payslips covering a period of 3 months OR
  • A copy of your parent/guardian and their partner’s state benefit(s) notification associated with income (all pages) AND
  • Other types of personal income including share certificates or dividend statements for stocks, shares or bonds.

b. If you are under 25 years old and independent, please provide:

  • A copy of your payslips covering a period of 3 months OR
  • A copy of your annual tax statements OR
  • A copy of any state benefit(s) award notification associated with income (all pages) AND
  • Copies of your bank statement covering a period of 3 months AND
  • Other types of personal income including share certificates or dividend statements for stocks, shares or bonds.

c. If you are over 25 years old, please provide:

  • Copies of you and/or your partner’s payslips covering a period of 3 months OR
  • A copy of you and/or your partner’s annual tax statements OR
  • A copy of you and/or your partner’s state benefit(s) notification associated with income (all pages) AND
  • Other types of personal income including share certificates or dividend statements for stocks, shares or bonds.

Please note that:

  1. Documents must be your most recent copies and dated within the last 3 months.
  2. You must provide original copies and a translated copy if your documents are not in English language (you can translate yourself with annotations on the document).
  3. If you are providing weekly payslips, please provide 12 consecutive payslips.
  4. If you are providing fortnightly payslips, please provide 6 consecutive payslips.
  5. Please also evidence any other types of income including stocks, shares or bonds.
  6. You’re an independent student if you care for a person under the age of 18, if you’re 25 or over on the first day of the academic year, if you’ve been married or in a civil partnership, if you have no living parents or, if you’ve supported yourself without any financial assistance from parents or relatives for at least three years before the start of your course.
  7. A ‘partner’ means a spouse (husband or wife), a civil partner, a person ordinarily living with you or your parent as his or her spouse or civil partner.
  8. If you have multiple documents to upload you should compress your documents into a single file or merge the documents into 1 PDF.
