The Mrs Joan Burstein CBE Award BA Fashion Sportswear of £5000 is available to 1 Home or EU student enrolled in the final year of studies on the BA Fashion Sportswear at London College of Fashion in 2019/20.
To be eligible for the Mrs Joan Burstein CBE Award BA Fashion Sportswear students must be:
- Considered Home or EU for fee purposes
- Enrolled on the final year of the full-time BA Fashion Sportswear at London College of Fashion, UAL, in September 2019
Joan Burstein CBE is the founder of Browns, one of London’s most influential fashion boutiques, which she established in 1970 with her husband Sidney. Burstein is credited with being the first retailer to stock designers such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Christopher Kane, and she is known for her intuitive ability to spot emerging talent.
In 2019, she created The Mrs Joan Burstein CBE BA Cordwainers and BA Fashion Sports Awards in order to support talented emerging designers completing their final year as undergraduate students at London College of Fashion.
The scholarship will be assessed on the basis of academic merit. It will provide a contribution towards costs associated with the production of the recipient’s final project.
