It should be noted that throughout the academic year 2021-22, Unite Students (the owner and operator of Emily Bowes Court) has been carrying out significant external maintenance works to replace the current façade on the building. Please rest assured, the building has been certified as safe for occupation by industry experts.
Unite Students have advised that these works may continue across some of the building into the academic year 2022-23. However, we currently expect there to be minimal to no disruption for students living in Block A and Block D (the two blocks at Emily Bowes Court occupied by UAL students). This is because their contractors have already completed works in this section.
Works will take place on site from 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday and is done in phases to minimize any inconvenience to residents. There is, however, likely to be some disruption from noise and dust when contractors are working on the section of the building in which you live. Scaffolding is up around the building on the north and south elevations, which may mean some rooms have less light than normal. You will be able to open windows and you can have one-way film installed to protect your privacy.
Please note, when moving in, students in Block A may still see external scaffolding outside their kitchen and bedroom windows, as this is structurally supporting the building.
Emily Bowes Court is a short tube ride away from Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion.
The accommodation boasts great outdoor space, with large-scale games, outdoor gardening space, a large communal television room and study areas.
