The Systems Map

This systems map experiments with visualising youth violence. It suggests a holistic and design-led approach by showing the complex nature of the problem.

The map illustrates how youth violence is a systemic issue with multiple contributing factors, interdependencies and effects. It allows us to see the full picture and explore new solutions, helping policy makers, strategic funders and those in local and national government working with young people, join the dots and identify points for strategic intervention.

The map also highlights how single-issue interventions like Stop and Search and School Exclusion may fail to prevent the incidence of knife crime, whilst creating a myriad of unintended adverse consequences.
