As part of our Teach Inspire Create programme of events, we’re excited to present: A spotlight on Level 3 Creative Practice. This free online event will give you the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the qualification and hear from those who design, deliver and study on it. This session is for all centres NOT currently delivering the UAL Creative Practice qualifications.

You will hear about the all-round benefits of studying Creative Practice with UAL Awarding Body centres and the myriad of skills and experience this course offers students. You will discover the insightful and comprehensive methods used to effectively prepare students for Higher Education or their chosen alternate pathway in the industry.

The UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design, and Communication are qualifications for post-16 students looking to pursue a specialist career in the creative industries. The qualifications provide students with the necessary industry relevant skills, knowledge, and understanding to access appropriate entry level roles, training programmes or apprenticeships in the creative sector, or apply for progression to related higher education courses.

The UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication gives students an in-depth introduction to the creative industries, along with a broad foundation of related knowledge, skills, and attributes associated to the creative process.

The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design, and Communication further develops a student's knowledge of the creative industries, allowing them to explore and select a specialist practice focus, and develop skills and knowledge central to supporting and sustaining an individualised specialist creative career.

The qualifications are suitable for students who have an interest in creative arts or a related subject who wish to explore and extend this interest via a full-time or part-time, immersive learning experience.

In this online introductory Spotlight session, you will gain a detailed understanding of the qualifications and learn about the progression and career opportunities they provide for students. The session will enable you to hear live from current tutors at UAL approved centres who have successfully planned and delivered the qualifications. There will also be a chance to hear directly from students about their experience on these qualifications and how studying with UAL has expanded their artistic ambitions and career choices.

In this two-hour online session, Joint Chief Examiner for Art and Design, Matthew Moseley, will be joined by heads of departments, current tutors and students. The panel includes:

  • Charlotte Davis, Course Director and Lecturer in Art and Design at West Suffolk College
  • Katie Holmes, Course Leader of Creative practice: Art, Design and Communication at Leeds Arts University

By the end of the session, you will have an understanding of:

  • The wide-ranging benefits of these specialist qualifications and how they help to hone specific skills that are relevant to progression to higher level study and entry into the industry.
  • How these qualifications encourage innovation and creativity.
  • The course overview and delivery.

There will be an opportunity to discuss these elements with our qualification experts in a Q&A session at the end.

The structure of UAL Awarding Body’s Art and Design qualifications enable us to deliver an engaging further education curriculum from levels 1– 4. The qualifications provide all students with opportunities to develop new skills and techniques, work in a curious and experimental manner, and be able to make mistakes in their creative development without the pressure of impact on final grades.
