Digital Portfolio Submission Guidance 2022/23

This summer, moderation of UAL Awarding Body qualifications was entirely digital. Following the success of this, we will be continuing with a remote digital moderation model for the 2022/23 academic year.

All UAL Awarding Body approved centres are required to make student work and associated documentation available digitally for those conducting the remote moderation activity. To help you achieve this, we are pleased to provide this practical guidance for centres on Digital Portfolio Submission Guidance for 2022/23. The guidance covers the stages of capturing student work and evidence of achievement digitally this year. We know many of you will be working in this way already, but we ask that all relevant delivery staff read this guidance, to help ensure consistency across centres and a smoother path toward results in 2023. The formats and approaches presented are not exhaustive or prescriptive but provide a useful reference.

The approaches outlined in the Delivery Guidance document and Digital Portfolio Submission Guidance applies to UAL qualifications awarded in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and complies with the requirements of the corresponding Ofqual’s Vocational and Technical Qualifications Contingency Regulatory Framework. Our aim is to enable the fullest creative learning possible this year. We will balance this aim with flexibility, limiting the burden on centres wherever possible and ensuring that no students are disadvantaged.

Please Note: This guidance details the process for external moderation of internally assessed qualifications only. It does not relate to moderation of external assessments, set and marked by UAL such as those embedded in the UAL Level 3 Applied General Diploma in Art and Design and the first year of the UAL Level 3 Applied General Extended Diploma in Art and Design. However, it does apply to the second year of the UAL Level 3 Applied General Extended Diploma in Art and Design which incorporates an internally assessed, externally moderated element.
