As part of our Teach Inspire Create programme of events, we’re excited to present: A spotlight on Fashion Business and Retail. This free online event will give you the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the qualification and hear from those who design, deliver and study on it. This session is for all centres not currently delivering the UAL Fashion Business and Retail qualifications.

Discover our project-driven and stimulating Fashion Business and Retail qualifications.

You will hear from current tutors at UAL Awarding Body approved centres who have successfully planned and delivered this qualifications. There will also be a chance to hear from students about their experience of studying this qualification, and the progression routes it opens up to further study and careers within their chosen industry.

The UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Fashion Business and Retail provides students with an understanding of fashion business and retail through a broad diagnostic experience that prepares them for the reality of the sector and progression paths available to them.

The UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Fashion Business and Retail have been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training in a range of fashion business and retail disciplines.

The UAL Level 3 and Level 4 Diploma for Fashion Studio Assistant has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to work within the fashion industry; with a specific focus on working within a fashion studio.

The UAL Level 4 Diplomas in Fashion Business and Retail has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into higher education or further training. The skills developed throughout the qualification may also support students intending to progress directly into employment in the fashion retail sector.

These qualifications offer broad but in-depth knowledge and skills in preparation for work in the fashion retail sector.

In this online introductory Spotlight session, you will gain a detailed understanding of the qualifications and learn about the progression and career opportunities they provide for students. The session will enable you to hear live from current tutors at UAL approved centres who have successfully planned and delivered the qualifications. There will also be a chance to hear directly from students about their experience on these qualifications and how studying with UAL has expanded their artistic ambitions and career choices.

By the end of the session, you will have an understanding of:

  • The wide-ranging benefits of this qualification and the different ways it helps students to hone the specific skills needed for progression to further study and their chosen industry
  • How these qualifications encourage innovation and creativity
  • The course overview and delivery

There will be an opportunity to discuss these elements with our qualification experts in a Q&A session at the end.

My students thoroughly enjoy the UAL course because it provides them with a sound understanding of the different roles in Fashion Retail and presents opportunities for visual merchandising work experience and field trips to trade shows. They also enjoy learning industry appropriate skills such as Photoshop, Polyvore, conducting photo shoots and building websites.
