Biography

Alex Fefegha works at the intersection of design, code, speculative fiction and art and has a habit of sharing ideas and projects in public as his works embody social issues and exposes the technological systems affecting us as individuals.

Alex's work has been recognised internationally for investigating potential active collaborative interactions between humans and machines and the exploration of future interfaces that we as humans will interact with.

He engages with topics and mediums ranging from: racial bias and gender bias in AI systems, speculative futures with AI, AI and creativity, feminism and AI, how AI augment human relationships, technologies related to preservation of the self (post mortem) and creating provocations around explainable algorithms.

Outside academia, Alex is the co-founder and head creative technologist at COMUZI, a design invention studio. They work with the likes of Nike, ASOS, Uber, BBC, University of Arts London, Ustwo, EY, Waltham Forest Council and the NHS to explore, imagine and prototype future-forward creative concepts for human-centred technology.

In 2018, Alex was identified by the Financial Times as one of the "The UK’s top 100 black and minority ethnic leaders in technology".

Alex holds a Master's degree in Innovation from Central Saint Martins.
