Merlin Entertainments’ brands include Madame Tussauds and the London Dungeon, so they often recruit highly skilled sculptors to create their exceptionally life-like models and waxworks.
Merlin was aware there was a possibility that the teaching of sculpture using life models may not be able to continue at Wimbledon College of Arts due to its' cost.
Knowing this is a key skill for figurative sculpture, Merlin made a substantial financial contribution to enable life model teaching to continue.
Liz Malinowski, Production Manager, Merlin Entertainments, said: “We recruit most of our sculptors from Wimbledon. The fundamental sculpting skills they’re learning are appropriate for our business and they fit in very easily because they’ve got a strong foundation in sculpture.”
Wimbledon's partnership with Merlin Entertainments highlights the importance and advantages of companies investing in new talent to secure the future of their profession. Students continue to benefit from Wimbledon’s relationship with Merlin, and Merlin continues to recruit talented sculptors with relevant skills.
