Biography

Dr Nessa Keddo is a Senior Lecturer in Media Communications at London College of Communication.

With over 9 years’ worth of teaching experience, Nessa enjoys combining her theoretical knowledge with practical insights. Her learning style merges conceptual discussions on contemporary issues and guiding students on ways to snowball their ideas through creative experimentation.

She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and holds a PGCHE. Nessa is also Founder of Munch Free - a free from, vegan and organic baby/toddler food brand – conducting all of the marketing, advertising and PR. She launched Munch Free in 2019, after struggling to find free from and plant-based food options for her son who has multiple allergies.

The products are currently being developed and a launch date is intended for late 2019. Nessa holds a PhD in Sociology and Communications from Brunel University London. Her research interests lie in the areas of socio-cultural media production and the management of diversity within organisations, and has two main research focuses.

Firstly, her current research analyses how marketing organisations are adapting to changes in the digital economy and is working on projects with several global marketing organisations.

Secondly, she analyses the organisational problems within these marketing organisations, such as cultural reproduction and the facilitation of identity.

Along with having several journal articles in these fields, Nessa is co-writing her first book, Managing Diversity in the Cultural and Creative Industries, with Dr Clive Nwonka at LSE (Routledge, forthcoming).

With both a practical background and experience of field research within the industry, Nessa's research knowledge brings an in-depth perspective of current industry organisational processes of cultural production and constructs a complex, yet crucial element of research that is limited within literature.

As an active researcher, Nessa is a member of many organisations, such as Media Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA), British Academy of Management (BAM), and Academy of Marketing.

Prior to joining LCC, Nessa was a Lecturer in Marketing at Regent’s University London, Brunel University and Middlesex, and has developed courses at London South Bank University. She has also severed as an External Panel member at several institutions and is an External Examiner at Plymouth University.

Nessa is interested in supervising PhD students in the areas of cultural production and/or diversity management in the cultural and creative industries.
