Joshua Trees is a publisher, educator and researcher, and is a Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design course at London College of Communication.

As an educator, Josh has been teaching for 15 years. Previously he was Associate Professor at ArtCenter (2002-07) and is currently also an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins (2009-) and Visiting Lecturer at Royal College of Art (2015-).

As a publisher and researcher, Josh's practice has been encompassing the fields of art, design and theory/criticism ever since he earned an MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute (1999). During 1999-2009, Josh practiced under the name Fake I.D. in collaboration with Yvan Martinez.

Their work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions as well as the permanent collections of Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Denver Art Museum, Design Museum, MoMA and SFMOMA. Notable clients include Arkitip, Emigre magazine, Giorgio Camuffo, GLBT Historical Society, Harmony Korine, MTV, Nike, Urban Outfitters and Wieden+Kennedy.

In 2012, Josh co-founded Booksfromthefuture, a platform for experimental learning and publishing. All books are produced under experimental circumstances that nurture artistic research and investigational practice. Recent collaborators include 75B, Stuart Bailey, Dante Carlos, Bart de Baets, Jaime Gili, Scott King, Armand Mevis and Rebecca Stephany.

Areas of research include: aesthetics, bookness, conceptual art, conceptual design, critical graphic design, curation, documentary fiction, experimental communication, new genres, post-digital, social sculpture, typography, transdisciplinarity.
