Can you tell us about your work in the MA Summer Show?

The project is an exploration of our relationship with technology. It evaluates our connection to a ‘digital mesh’ of algorithmic space by looking at it from multiple angles. It questions public opinion and deconstructs the system by looking closer into the role of algorithms in our modern life, but most importantly it looks at us humans and our behaviours.

The title of my project is Deceptive (b)order. It consists of two outputs based on human and object interactions: a video which showcases 4 different types of algorithms placed in the surrealist scenery and a publication.

What have you learned from your year of postgraduate study at Chelsea?

MA Graphic Design Communication at Chelsea has shown me a different side of design. The course is based on critical thinking within a practice, and so focuses more on sociological and cultural issues.

During this year I have been challenged to identify and explore a complex issue through research-led thinking and making. I have learned a multidisciplinary field of design which reconciles previously divided specialities. I have developed my specialist subject knowledge and gained a greater understanding into my personal design practice.

What opportunities has the course given you? How will this impact your future practice?

The course has provided me with the possibility of collaboration with fellow Chelsea students as well as other educational institutions.

I have been able to create a professional network in London and I’m looking forward to creating future opportunities.
