Lia Anna Hennig
Lia Anna Hennig is an Associate Lecturer in Graphic Design and Photography on the Foundation course at Central Saint Martins. Lia studied Fine Art with Experimental Film as her core subject at the renowned Städelschule in Frankfurt, where she attended Mark Lecky's class. She moved to London in 2005 and completed her MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins.
Lia works with a great variety of media ranging from drawing, video and installation to performance. Her work explores processes of consumption and transformation while humorously testing the various transgressions that turn ordinary events, mostly related to food and sex, into interesting stories and images. Art critic Martin Coomer referred to her as a "latter-day media-savvy Surrealist".
Lia has shown her work internationally in private and public art galleries, art fairs and film screenings. She also works collaboratively and on commissions. She was part of Peles Empire’s ‘Peles Dining Room’ where she contributed ‘Chocolate Blood Salami and Crispy Forks’. Most recently she illustrated four editions of a magazine/book project called ‘The Alpha Male’, and was asked by filmmaker Ben Lewis to make a screenprint edition for Eyestorm.
