Jane Tynan is a lecturer on BA and MA design and communication courses at Central Saint Martins. Her research encompasses fashion studies, design history and visual culture. She has taught across a range of arts and humanities courses in Ireland and the UK, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the CSM Fashion: History, Theory, Curation and Film research group. She is series editor for Palgrave Studies in Fashion and the Body.

Research interests

Social history of fashion and clothing; history of uniform clothing-military and civilian, camouflage; fashion and social identity; fashion and politics; conflict and visual/material culture; the body and war memory; design and activism: gender and design; protest and visual culture.
