Becky joined CSM in 2012, overseeing five technical areas in Fashion & Textiles. With a background in Fashion Design & Costume Making, she has worked in Higher Education for over twelve years. Having worked as both a technician and then a Course Leader, Becky has a wealth of experience that she can draw on when working with staff and students at CSM. Her teaching experience is in garment construction & pattern cutting, which she has taught to degree level, as well as short leisure courses for adults & children.
Becky started her own studies in Fashion at Art College, choosing to study Costume design at degree level. Following graduation, whilst working in Industry, Becky worked for Angels Costumiers & BBC Costume & Wig Store as a Costume Maker. This experience has been hugely beneficial when working with students on their own garments.
Becky continues her own practice in home-based craft, which she explored further whilst studying for her Masters in Education in Art & Design at The Institute of Education. Research interests include hand knitting, embroidery and matriarchal influences & gender bias in craft practice.
