UAL East & West Coast Alumni Associations Present: A Global Careers US Event

Over two hundred students attended the UAL Global Careers USA event last night, which was held in the canteen at Central Saint Martins, Granary Square London.  The event was hosted by the UAL East & West Coast Alumni Associations, and was for current UAL students and alumni who are interested in working in the states…

The event was headed up by Ben Wilkinson-Raemer, who, as well as being the President of the East Coast UAL alumni group, is also Production lead at Barrows North America. Ben spoke about the East & West Coast alumni associations, and the amazing networking opportunities they can offer UAL students who either return home to the States after graduating, or move there to work.

Joining him on the panel were Meghan Halpin, Director, Talent Acquisition, Theory & Helmut Lang and Arielle Klein, Manager, Talent Acquisition at Theory, Jacquie Kavanagh, Commercial Director of Video at Condé Nast UK and Megan Van Someren, Global Planning Lead, J. Walter Thompson London. The panel was chaired by Adam Watling, Client Team Manager at London College of Fashion.

The panellists covered a wide range of topics during the discussion and the Q&A session that followed it, including ways to get yourself noticed in the competitive creative market, the importance of networking, using LinkedIn as an invaluable research tool and finding your own unique ‘super power’.  During the networking drinks after the talk, the students were queueing up to speak with the panellists for more advice and information.
