UAL Beijing Alumni Association celebrates Chinese New Year

Members of the UAL Beijing Alumni Association were invited to join VIP guests at the Today Art Museum, for the opening ceremony of What Has To Be Done, an exhibition curated by UAL Professor of Fine Art, Chris Wainwright.

Chris Wainwright introduced the exhibition and gave guests a tour of some of his personal highlights. What Has To Be Done is inspired by four voyages by artists from China and the UK on the traditional sailing ship Lady of Avenel, around the Western Isles of Scotland between 2013 – 16.

Guests had a chance to see what it looks to be on board a ship through creative artists’ eyes.  Chris Wainwright talked about the challenges of the project and the importance of human relationship with a sea.

After the ceremony, alumni attend a dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year, kindly sponsored by British Airways. Guests had a great opportunity to continue conversations and meet other members of UAL’s Beijing Alumni Association over refreshments and delicious cupcakes, donated by UAL alumni’s company 花言兑.
