Threadneedle Prize 2012

The 2012 Threadneedle Prize for Painting and Sculpture shortlist was announced at the Mall Galleries this week. For 2012 the prize fund has increased to £30,000, making it the most valuable prize awarded for a single work of art in the UK. Each of the 153 works exhibited in the 2012 exhibition is also eligible to win the £10,000 Visitors’ Choice Award.

One of the six final shortlist artists is Wimbledon graduate Elaine Brown; Hair Triptych by Elaine Brown is a work in oil paint on gesso board. Born in London in 1961, Elaine completed her MA in Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art in 2012. Her work was exhibited in New Contemporaries in 1984 and alongside Tracey Emin in 1987 in an exhibition called Three Women Artists at Rochester Art Centre.
