Thomas Tait Wins the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize

Congratulations to MA Fashion alumnus Thomas Tait who has won the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize. He will receive a year’s mentorship and €300,000 to invest in his own label.

Tait was one of 12 shortlisted candidates. Of the 12, Meadham Kirchhoff, Kathleen Kye, Christopher Kane, Craig Green, Christopher Shannon and Yang Li all studied on both BA and MA Fashion courses at Central Saint Martins. Simone Rocha, Thomas Tait, Marques’ Almeida, J JS Lee and Hellen Van Rees were graduates of MA Fashion and Ostwald Helgason of BA Fashion.

The jury comprised Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo, Kenzo’s creative duo Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Delphine Arnault, and LVMH executives Pierre-Yves Roussel and Jean-Paul Claverie.

At the award ceremony, the judges also gave 10,000 euro scholarships to three fashion graduates. One of the lucky recipients was Teruhiro Hasegawa, from Central Saint Martins, who will work at Givenchy for one year.
