Award-winning screenwriter Yehudah Jez Freedman, who graduated from London College of Communication‘s MA Screenwriting course in 2005 is currently shooting his new film in London.

Twice short-listed for Tony Jordan’s Red Planet Prize and winner of the International Emmy Sir Peter Ustinov Award for his television drama ‘The Storyteller,’ new comedy drama ‘Dough’ will be his first feature film screenplay.

Dough, which Jez co-wrote with Jonathan Benson, is a comedic drama about the unlikely friendship between an old Jewish baker trying to save his family bakery and a young Muslim refugee from Darfur trying to help his mother by selling cannabis.

A feel-good movie for a wide audience of all age groups and from all cultural and religious backgrounds around the world, the message of the film is that no matter how different people are and how many prejudices there are to overcome – in the end friendship can conquer all.

Directed by John Goldschmidt, and supported by Viva Films, where Jez is Head of Development, the project shoots on location in London and at Budapest’s Origo Studios.

The cast features Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean), Phil Davis (Dr Who), Ian Hart (Harry Potter), Pauline Collins (Shirley Valentine) and Jerome Holder (Holby City). The film is due to be released in 2014.
