New UAL Alumni Group in Pakistan

Sara Pagganwala is in the process of setting up a new UAL alumni group in Pakistan…

“I did my Fine Art BA (hons) from Central Saint Martins, in the XD pathway. It was a privilege as I got the best of both educations, having done my foundation year at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and then transferring out to London.

I had the honour of meeting people from all walks of life, and being under the tutelage from teachers from whom I took away so much more than just academics. The whole experience was a catalyst for making me who I am today.

Upon returning to Pakistan, I have been a part of numerous exhibitions, I work part time at an events management company, and am visiting faculty at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. I teach theory courses to the third and fourth year students in the Liberal Arts Department; Culture on Display and Introduction to Performance Art (a basic understanding of performance art and art history, an elective, which is being introduced here for the first time).

Upon discovering that there is no UAL group here in Pakistan, I thought it would be brilliant to gather Alumni to share experiences, perhaps result in collaboration, and to keep the memory of our time at the University of the Arts alive. Also, on further establishment, to set up base here for prospective students to have people to go to for advice etc, which was an opportunity we didn’t have.”
