Toby Kress discusses the New Career Paths available to you at this FREE talk organised by Made in Arts London & SEE Start-Up.
In the past artists and designers would often get a job to support themselves, pursue residencies and or grant funding and aim to ‘get a gallery’ with the ultimate aspiration of getting a museum show. Now there is more and more entrepreneurial activity: using online platforms to get known, to begin selling work, to find and develop collaborations and to have multiple creative careers.
About Toby Kress:
Fine Art graduate, Toby Kress now runs the hugely successful conference REMIX, a global summit for Culture, Entrepreneurship and Technology, in partnership with the British Council, Bloomberg and Google among others
Toby was formerly General Manger at Frith Street Gallery, a major London contemporary art gallery and prior to this he was Managing Director for Exit Art in New York. Toby recently received his MBA from London Business School.
UAL students will gain from the discussion:
An understand of how the professional landscape for artists is changing and how new career paths differ from old career paths, and allow you to identify areas to develop in order to sustain your creative practice
An open minded approach to your career after university
An introduction to opportunities provided by online platforms for artists.
