What’s in the package? The 10th annual Publishing Innovation Conference at LCC

On Thursday 13 March 2014, MA Publishing students from London College of Communication hosted the 10th annual Publishing Innovation Conference.

First set-up and organised every year by students, the conference’s aim to is to debate emerging issues shaping the publishing and media industries.

This year’s conference entitled, the Publishing Package, focused on the challenges of changing consumer behaviors brought about by technological change, with the question of how publishers create a package that meets changing needs at the heart of the debate.

A stellar line-up of speakers included Consultant Creative Director at Dennis publishing Rob Boynes; CEO and founder of Contentment, Michael Kowalski; editor of Hunger Magazine, Hunger TV and LCC almna Holly Fraser; Global Head of Commercial news at Reuters, Andrew Meagher; Facebook Creative Strategist Alastair Cotterill and many other industry insiders!

The evening was a huge success, with lively debate, informative presentations, lots of social media chatter and one of the multi-talented team organising the event even live illustrating proceedings.

Every aspect of the conference was organised by the students, from sourcing the speakers, to design, marketing, PR and production.

Reviewing the event, guest Richard Lomax, Director of Redhouse Lane Communications said;

“Congratulations on an excellent event last night.  Loved the way you created a tent big enough to accommodate idealist print start-ups, digital evangelists and hard-nosed monetisers, without making anyone feel or look like they were in the wrong place. Inspiring stuff!”
