This month Future Map returns for its sixteenth year, exhibiting the 24 most exciting new artists from UAL. Opening on 20 March, this year the prestigious annual show will take place at SPACE in Hackney, a perfect venue to display the next generation of visual artists.
The high profile experts on the judging panel for the show included artist Laura Buckley, artist and Chair of Art and the Environment Lucy Orta, and curator and Saatchi Gallery CEO Nigel Hurst. Their chosen artists are: Abigail Booth, Adrien Vouillot, Ambra Carboni, Arthur Prior, Ben James, Bethe Bronson, Blaise Chatelain, Charles Moxon, Charlotte Halsey, David Marques, Elizabeth Lands, Esperanza Perkins, Han Byul Kang, Jack Wilkinson, Jamie Hosegood, Jason File, Jessica Roper, Lauren Allen, Libby Ireland, Luke Franklin, Marcus Jordan Dobbs, Nikolas Ventourakis, Redjade Yuan, Sasha Bowles, Sean Lavelle and Zehra Arslan.
At the opening night three prizes were announced: the £3,000 Zabludowicz Collection Future Map Prize, the £1,000 2014 UAL Future Map Prize for Drawing, Painting, Printmaking or Photography and the £1,000 2014 UAL Future Map Prize for Sculpture, Installation, Moving Image or Performance. Revealed on Instagram and Twitter on the night, the winners are: Chelsea BA Fine Art graduate Jason File for the Zabludowicz Collection Future Map Prize; Jack Wilkinson for the UAL Future Map Prize for Drawing, Painting, Printmaking or Photography; and Luke Franklin for the UAL Future Map Prize for Sculpture, Installation, Moving Image or Performance.
