Jackie Puwalski, MA Fashion Photography 2014, has been inspired by LCF’s urban bees to create an intriguing Masters project that encourages us to think about how our impact on the environment will shape the future.

Jackie first noticed the LCF beehives in the spring:

“I had a meeting on the top floor of John Prince’s Street and noticed that there were beekeepers out tending to a hive. I was impressed and elated that LCF had taken in a hive!”

Through her photography, Jackie has been exploring man’s dysfunctional relationship with the natural world. Jackie described her approach:

“I want people to look at my work, respond to it visually, but then think ‘wait, what’s that about?’ I think that little bit of curiosity makes a huge difference.”

The photographer added:

“My research into humans’ influence on nature and what effect we are having on bees, plants and environmental toxicity, lead to the creation of artistic interpretations of how future strains of honey bees and flowers may look.”
