Jennet Thomas - BA Fine Art: Print & Time-Based Media Senior Lecturer

Jennet Thomas.
Jennet Thomas.

Jennet Thomas works across film, installation and performance.

Thomas’ work can look like television news, experimental film, children’s drama or performance art. Her work is frequently comic, uncanny and entertaining.

Her narratives use uncanny visual and verbal puns and mix elements of the banal and the bizarre. Experiments with sound design are combined with unusual collisions of narrative and performance genres.

Speculative, experimental writing and the use of found cultural artefacts are at the core of her working processes exploring connections to collective cultural memories.

Thomas is a co-founder of the Exploding Cinema Collective. Her single screen films are distributed by the Video Data Bank.

Solo shows include School of Change (Matt’s Gallery, London) and The Unspeakable Freedom Device (Grundy Gallery, Blackpool).
