Integrated Study Abroad

Integrated Study Abroad allows you to enrol alongside local honours degree students for one, two or three terms and fully integrate into the BA course and UK student life.

You should be prepared for an intensive, fast-paced and immersive learning experience, delivered through individual and group work, crits, projects, seminars and lectures, as well as visits to museums, galleries and studios.

Classes and schedule

You will study exclusively within your chosen subject area alongside degree seeking students, taking classes that are assigned to you in order to fully develop specialist and detailed technical skills within the chosen field.

You will spend time working independently and be quick to adapt to a more conceptual way of learning that is probably quite different to what you are used to.

You will have more feedom within your programme and you will be expected to develop, explore and build your own ideas and creative thought process.

You will be given the freedom to manage and direct your work according to your own thought processes and schedule. Your timetable will be flexible and change periodically.

All Integrated Study Abroad courses at UAL are credit rated and 40 credits are available for each term.

All Integrated Study Abroad courses are accompanied by a course handbook which you and your home institution should use to determine credit transfer. Please contact the Study Abroad Office on to request course handbooks.

A grade conversion table is available to assist in credit transfer:

At the end of your course of study a transcript of your grades is sent to your home address as well as your home institution or the agency through which your application arrived.

European Art History: London & Berlin

Students joining an integrated Study Abroad programme have the opportunity to add the optional European Art History module to their programme, either at the start of the autumn term or the end of the spring term.

Through lectures, visits, discussion groups and studio-based workshops, this module offers you the opportunity to engage with the art, history, environment and culture of London and Berlin through this intensive programme.
