CEO of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush has played an integral role in propelling British fashion onto a global platform.
Caroline Rush is the Chief Executive Officer of the British Fashion Council (BFC) a role to which she was appointed in 2009, following a close working relationship with the not-for-profit organisation since 1998.
Rush began her career working in marketing, then financial PR, before moving into fashion, which had always been her ambition. Studying an art foundation after sixth form in Manchester, she moved to Tokyo for a brief stint in modelling, before returning and entering the world of fashion business.
For five years, she ran her own PR agency, Crush Communications, and it was during this time she began to work with the BFC on its new strategies and creative solutions. Come 2002 she was asked to run its press office in London.
“It is an absolute honour to play a role in not only being able to bring to life the strategy we set then, but also the goals we have in terms of London as a global fashion capital,” she says.
Rush has been instrumental in launching a plethora of new initiatives that have worked to propel British fashion onto a global platform. She is a member of the London Cultural Strategy Group, helping to promote London as a world-class city of culture, and also works closely with UAL’s London College of Fashion. “UAL, delivers an incredible level of education,” she says.
When not throwing her efforts behind the best of British talent, or attending the very many shows of London Fashion Week and London Fashion Week Men’s, Rush likes to spend time at home in London with her husband and daughter.
