1. Why should I complete a Unit Evaluation?

Unit Evaluations can help us to make positive changes to your course while you are still studying with us. The more students respond, the more impact your feedback has.

2. How can I complete a Unit Evaluation?

Unit Evaluation surveys will near the end of each unit on your course and close two weeks later.

You will receive an email to let you know when a survey is open – simply click on the link in the email to complete your unit evaluation. You can also access the surveys through your course Moodle site.

3. How long will it take?

Unit Evaluations only take a few minutes to complete and are easy to access from your computer or mobile.

The survey asks about things like your teaching, learning, academic support and resources. There is space for feedback on the best feature of the unit, as well as anything that could be improved.

We also collect equality monitoring information – this section is optional but any information that you disclose will be anonymous and will only be used to identify trends in the data collected.

4. Who sees my feedback?

Your Course Leader will receive the full set of results including your comments. The College and University will also receive reports to help identify, monitor and act on trends.

5. Is it anonymous?

All unit evaluations are anonymous.

The software we use to manage the surveys works by generating random, anonymous links to the survey for the number of students we tell it are on that unit. The software then sends those links at random to the email addresses we've entered. There is no way for anyone to know which link was sent to who, or which student gave that feedback.

6. Will I get a response to my feedback?

Your Course Leader will post a response to each unit evaluation on your course Moodle site, highlighting where they think they might be able to make positive changes to your course.

7. How will my feedback be used?

In addition to your Course Leader (as details in 6) we will use your feedback to identify areas for improvement, and share good practice across the University. Your feedback will feed into our annual monitoring processes, helping us to reflect on course design and teaching, and how we can improve your experience as a student at UAL.

8. What other opportunities do I have to feed back?

Unit Evaluations are just one way of giving us your feedback. There are many opportunities for you to help improve your course, such as meetings with your Course Reps, joining the SU and your Course or Programme Committee.
