The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) asks all taught postgraduate students about their time at University via an online questionnaire. It is the only national survey of postgraduate students in the UK.

Why should I take part?

Your answers tell us about your time with us, and we use that information to improve our courses and all aspects of your UAL experience. What you say will also be useful to future students on your course.

National results are available on The Higher Education Academy website, and we will be able to compare how our students responded against the results of other universities.

...and, vouchers! You could win £100 in Amazon vouchers for taking part. We have 8 £100 vouchers up for grabs - winners will be randomly selected at the end of the survey and contacted by email.

What will I be asked?

You will be asked about your experience of these areas:

  • teaching and learning
  • engagement
  • assessment and feedback
  • organisation and management
  • resources and services
  • skills development

The survey also asks why you chose your course and – where relevant – your experience of writing a dissertation or starting a major project.

Is it anonymous?

Yes. All data collected in the survey is anonymous and is held securely. Your answers will not be traced back to you.

How do I take part?

You will be emailed a link to the survey. If you don't receive the email or have any questions, email us at
