About Us
Support Services for Students
These services offer support that enables students to develop their professional, personal and creative potential:
These services are based at the Student Centre at University of the Arts London's headquarters in high holborn. During term time, we offer a range of services at six college-based offices using a 'one-stop-shop' approach. Each College office is staffed by Student Advice staff who will usually be the first point of contact for students.
The Dean of Students is also located in the Student Centre.
Student Advice
Paul Rossi, Ext 6232 p.rossi@arts.ac.uk heads the team of Student Advisers and Information Officers
Student Advisers and Information Officers are guidance workers who have both generic and specialist knowledge and skills. They offer guidance to large numbers of students on matters related to finance, immigration, etc. They are often in the front-line of dealing with student distress, and they are expected to make appropriate choices about their level of involvement. Student Advisers are not qualified Counsellors, but they might suggest that a student sees a Counsellor if they think it's appropriate.
The Senior Student Advisers work across Student Services to provide support and guidance for students and staff on areas related to both Student Funding and Immigration issues.
Student Advisers (like Counsellors) are not trained mental health workers or paramedics. In some cases, Student Advisers may be directly involved in referral processes or in managing emergency situations, but they should only do so in partnership with College staff and in accordance with the guidelines. For example, they may choose not to accompany a student to hospital.

Counselling Service
The Counselling Service offers professional and confidential counselling to individual students and in groups. Counselling is not an emergency or crisis intervention but provides students with an opportunity for talking through a whole range of concerns and difficulties.
The service operates an appointment system. At busy times there can be a waiting list. If the matter is very pressing, students can ask for an 'urgent appointment' which will usually be offered within a few days.
Appointments are available either through the Student Adviser at your site or Student Services at the Student Centre.
